I have to say, today went swimmingly! I had stayed up very late the night before (aka, last night) and yet I wasn't a bit tired...for the most part :P.
*quick thought* When I put a smiley at the end of my sentence should I put a period after it, or put it after the period, or just leave out the period completely? If you can answer this, please inform me with a quick comment! Please! This question has been haunting me from the moment I learned how to make a smiley. It just looks so odd having a group of punctuation marks all moshed together.*end quick thought*
Well, anyway, we didn't have to switch classes today (very, very good, considering the fact that I despise English class. I'm so bad at English! You guys might have noticed :P.)
When I got there I found Bry and KT and we hung out a little bit, when these two people came up to us and asked us if we could watch their cute little kindergartner until school started. Oh that little girl was adorable she was the shortest 4-year-old I've ever seen, besides maybe myself when I was four. She loved to jump around, let me tell you. We played a lot of hopscotch.
You see, at my school, in 8th grade, we are all assigned 2 little kindergartners, sometimes 3, to watch in church, and to play games with, and to watch out for, basically we're supposed to be like big brothers and sisters, which is great, because I love little 4-year-olds. They are the CUTEST things on Earth, and they are so funny. Hilarious, even. You should have seen them play kickball today. To them, that giant ball rolling towards them is like the boulder in that one Indiana Jones movie (love the movies, but oddly enough the title of that one is lost from my mind at the moment.) Off subject, whoops! Okay, so the reason I was telling you about the kindergartners is because I was going to say is that I hope that I get to be the big pal to the little cutie I watched this morning. It's kinda no point now, though because I got so off subject.
So, we basically spent 5 hours listening to all the rules, and how things work, and everything about the new computerized newsletter/report card/lunch menu/notice board. Then we spent 15 minutes in social studies setting up our study guides, and then 1 hour in art because we had nothing else to do, and then we played kickball and chalk with the kindergartners for the rest of the day.
I can't wait to find out who my little buddy will be. I really hope it's one of the funny, small, hyper kind that always act out in the cutest way possible, and then I want a small little playful one that follows rule well. Only because the first one reminds me of myself, and I can handle it, I'm good with tiny kids, and the second one because, how cute would that be?
A little shy kid would be cute too, but the shy ones always seem to think I'm stupid. Or scary, or weird...
Well, anyway, I'll get what I get and I won't throw a fit (who ever made that up has serious rhyming problems.) I love little kids so much. I would never want to work with them on a daily basis though, oi, what a handful!
I hear swine flu is supposed to kill us all this Fall. Great note to start the school year out on, isn't it?
Well, I have to go. I'm tired for once in my life, and I have algebra at 7:30 tomorrow.
Best of hope for the new year (despite swine flu,)
Casey

I can't do it!
What was once excitment, is now fear. I just can't go, I'm nervous. I've never been nervous about the first day of school before, but now I'm terrifyed! I have butterflies in the pit of my stomach, but it isn't as pleasent as it normally would be.
I'm just nervous because I don't know what to do when I get there. I have a crippling fear of making mistakes, I know, bad Casey, but I can't help what scares me!
Oh, I just feel as if it's getting closer and closer by the second (which it is,) and I feel that it's too soon! I can't go! I want to try and calm myself down, but if you knew me, you'd know calming myself down isn't a talent of mine. In fact, I don't think I even have those natuarl calming abilities put in me. I'm very good a working myself up, though. I'm your typical drama-queen.
Off topic, sorry. Anyway, I'm just worried. The only way I can relax myslef is if I think that other people go through it too. The only way I can ever feel confident and strong is if A. I know I'm right, or B. If I know people have it worse than me. It's very selfish of me, I know. But it's the only thing that works.
Well, I think I'm ging to sleep, the sooner I sleep the better I'll feel, I hope.
Your's in fear,
Casey Lynn

School Bells Ringing
Oh my God! I can't wait for school! First day, tomorrow. I just won't be able to sleep tonight, I know it! But I don't care, I'm going to finally be an 8th grader. I remember being younger and looking up to them, how tall they were, how intelligent they were (well, most of them.) I couldn't wait to be the big fish in a small pond. Now i'm there, and I look at myself and feel a little let down, I'm not tall, I'm not mature, I'm not responsible. I guess when I was younger they just seemd the way they were by comparison. I'm sure they felt this way, too.
It doesn't matter at all though, because I'm going back to school! I love school so much, and by the way I get excited by the first homework assighnment of the year, you wouldn't guess that I was so lazy. I have to say though, every homework assighnment after that loses it's excitment. Dramatically. And every day of school gets duller as you move on, but that's the way it has been since the beginning of time. We spend our childhood wanting to be a "big kid," we spend our teen-years wanting to grow-up, and we spend our adult years wishing we had it back. Same relationship between school and Summer, the grass is always greener.
I really do love school, though. If there was no homework, I would wish school was a year-round thing. I just love to learn new things. My Summer days are never filled with fun and games, but me sitting on my laptop reading the news, or looking up tutorials. Or maybe I'm watching Shark Week on Discovery. It's all because I love to learn. I'm like my Mom in that way. She always say's that she wishes she could get paid to go to school. I'd have to agree. That would be brilliant.
Well, anyway, today I cleaned my room. Boy, that was fun. Thank God my year's worth of crap wasn't that bad. I stuffed most of it in my closet, though. But only because most of it fell out of the closet from last year's cleaning. I looks good, besides the mountain of junk pilled up on my desk and sidetable. I have too much stuff, and nowhere to put it.
Well, I have to go. I've typed everything from today's happenings. Wish me luck for school!
